Teeny Tiny, thats my girl

I took Jessica to the doctor today to see if anything was wrong. She hasn’t been sleeping well and her runny nose went from runny to clogged and colored. Her appetite went down and she isn’t drinking very much.
The doctor said she’s healthy – but small. She’s only gained 1 and a 1/4 ounce since the last time we were there. She actually gained more but has lost some weight in the last week because of the teething. She only weighs 14 lbs and 4 oz.
This scares me. My doctor reassured me that there was nothing wrong. She’s eating, and boy is she eating – she eats like a horse. But he also gave me a few samples of formula to try to get her calorie intake up. I told him I’m willing to try it but we tried mixing formula with breastmilk when she was about 3 months old (maybe 2 months, I can’t remember) and she hated it.
But I said I would try it – so he sent us home with some samples of Similac and me on the worry cart to looneyville, first stop Parents Who Won’t Sleep Until Their Children Are Gaining Weight.
I called my mom on the way home, after calling Aaron – and both reassured me that if the doctor wasn’t worried, I shouldn’t be either. Thank you, both … but you can’t stop the worry of a mother hen for her chickens.
So I tried to give Jessica a sippy cup of formula when we got home, she threw a fit. But I wouldn’t relent and I kept offering it to her – it took a while, but once she tasted it, she sat there, in my arms for 20 minutes and drank the whole thing.
I finally see the light at the end of this tunnel.
