mid-Jan stuff

Jessica’s birthday weekend was full of fun. We did a great amount of relaxing with her which was just what the doctor ordered. Plus, the bathroom was completed so she’s been able to enjoy the benefits of the bath tub daily.
I’m really loving getting back into the swing of things now that I have the house all to myself again – no more workers coming and going all day. It’s nice to be back on a schedule for Jessica and for her to be able to freely run throughout the house (naked if she pleases) and just be the energetic 3 year old that she is.
Detox from some of the priveldges she was granted during the construction is going as suspected – we’re having some protests, but all in all it’s been a good transition back into normal life.
Today we cleaned out the baby’s room and are finally ready to “ready” that for him if we have the energy. One of the weekends we’ll put the crib up and maybe another we’ll set up the dresser or changing table (both of which we don’t have yet) – we’re just taking it slow and letting Jessica be a part of whatever she wants. Some days all she wants to talk about is baby brother and being a big sister and other days she’d rather be the baby than think about having one in our lives soon.
It’s hard to believe that she’s 3 already though – my goodness. And to think we’re having another one? Really, this hasn’t significantly hit me yet. Maybe when I go into labor I’ll think – oh … ok, so where did I put my bag? What do I need to bring? Maybe we’ll have a name for him by then too or we might be bringing Baby Boy Schaap home from the hospital and letting him decide his name when he can talk. You just never know these days.
