Being a parent is freakin awesome, but being mid-20s is a blast, too

I’m here. I know I’ve been gone from the internet for a few days – it’s been a busy week. A good week though, one that ended with breakfast with my dad and step mom and then handing off Jessica for the night to him. It wasn’t planned, but I had the forethought to pack a bag for her and then put a bug in his ear about having her over night.
OH MY GOSH! WE ARE CHILD FREE FOR A NIGHT.
Did you just read that? Am I clear enough here? WE GET TO BE ADULTS BEFORE PARENTS TONIGHT AND WE CAN SLEEP THE HELL IN TOMORROW MORNING.
I may be excited. Just may be.
Of course after I left breakfast with my dad I ran around town for a good 4 hours doing things I never get to do (with ease) when I have Jessica with me. Like, just “running into” a store for one thing, or because I want to. I got groceries which went so much faster and my list of things to do is now just beckoning that I fold the laundry already. And probably vacuum … yeah, that should be on the list too.
So tonight, in celebration of our Freedom we’re going out to eat with our friends to Wild Chef to have a hibachi dinner and then we’ll probably do something crazy like, you know, NOT GO HOME.

  1. Mmmmm, Hibachi was amazing. We will be returning to The Wild Chef often me thinks. After dinner we went hot tubbing with our friends. A great night – finished off with reading in bed knowing full well we could sleep until our eyes bled out the next morning.
Which, we didn’t do, of course. But we COULD HAVE and that was AWESOME.
