Now THAT was a big deal. Because we so seldom shopped or went to stores for clothing - school shopping was a huge occasion. One year we even went to Seattle to a MALL!! - that was something only the "town-girls" got to do. So that particular year was really big stuff. My grandma also took each of us shopping each year before school began and bought us all a new lunch-box...whichever one we wanted! That is a special memory for me...in fact, my mom might still have some of those lunch-boxes.
