Auntie Wee-ah and the donkeys

Last week we went out to The Sticks to visit my sister in law (who is an avid animal/house sitter while you’re on vacation – need one? Message me.) where she was house sitting for a family with chickens. And donkeys.

Meet Rose and Jewel. They’re very pleased to make your acquaintance.

It was a ton of fun. My kids absolutely love animals and since we’re not open to having one of our own … we try to take them as close as possible to as many kinds of animals as we can … and often.

It really helps that my sister in law is such an animal person because we’re able to be exposed to so many different kinds of animals through her. Plus? She’s kind of a rock star to my daughter. And my son is all kinds of in love with her.

She’s kind of a big deal around here.

After running wild around the house and yard and checking everything out we took some egg cartons out to the hen house to collect some eggs!! I love this.

Then we met the hens themselves. Lovely ladies.

It was a blast – what can I say? There’s a bit of farm girl still in me. Not that I ever lived on one, but both my parents did … so there’s gene proof farm kid in me somehow.

Now all we need is for someone with cows to go on vacation and ask her to watch them. Maybe I’ll get to milk it. 🙂
