Decorating the tree!

We finally got a real live tree! And found our “Christmas” box in our storage unit so we could decorate it with lights and the ornaments … having a 5 1/2 year old as your helper has turned out to be a huge deal. She’s kind of a rock star at decorating trees.

No matter that most of the ornaments are hung right on top of each other in one central area of the tree.

All I had to do was open the box and hang the lights, she got right to work on everything else.

Taking special care not to break the fragile ones, and to hang them high enough so her brother wouldn’t be tempted to “take a look”.

But don’t worry! He won’t be tempted to touch ornaments, as it turns out, he’ll be tempted to just cut the tree down. Again.

What a lumberjack.

We had to add another rule to our list: No cutting down the tree that is already cut down and mounted in our house. In fact, no chain saws on any plants, in anyone’s face or at anyone’s neck. That goes for screwdrivers, his fist and his hands in the choke hold. Not. Allowed.

Merry Christmas! We have a girl and oh boy, do we have a boy.
