New things baby does these days.

Jessica has taken to rubbing her eyes when she’s tired which is entirely adorable and completely irresistible. But it’s very nice too, because there’s really no question as to whether or not she’s tired. Accompanied by the rubbing is usually this loud screech that turns into a cry if you wait 5 minutes.

She kind of giggles/cries and screeches all at the same time and that’s when I know if I pick her up and pop the binky in her mouth she’ll relax and fall asleep for atleast an hour and half.

The weird thing is she sleeps between every feeding. Which “they” say was supposed to subside somewhere around 3 months. But here we are, 6 weeks later still taking 5 naps a day. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I love the quiet time. I can get things done, sit outside, read my book, make dinner or bake … but I want to play with the girl too!

Needless to say yet again, being a mom is the best job I’ve ever had. Ever. No freakin’ contest.

She hasn’t rolled over too many more times on her own yet either - from her back to her front. But she’ll get on her side and yell at the floor as if to tell it; “If you would only MOVE so I could lay on my stomach!!!” It’s too cute really. She tries so hard and then all that ends up happening is her spinning around in circles on the floor not actually getting anywhere.

Have we mentioned she takes after her father? What with all the determination and lack of being able to SIT STILL for 3 seconds. This girl, she never stops. The next one (as in child, as in 18 years from now, MAYBE) will be more mild tempered, I’m sure of it. ( and I’m lieing to myself through my teeth.)

Garden 2005

I planted a garden this year, my first. Full of watermelon, tamato’s, zuchini’s and beans and more.

And I planted the flowers for the year …

And this is my helper :)

This site is still about the baby.

Jessica rolled from her back to her front for the first time on May 17. She’s been rolling from her front to her back since she was about 5 weeks old. But it was awesome to see her finally “get it” the other day.

I was folding laundry and I had her on the bed watching me and we were just talking jibberish to eachother when she arched her neck to look behind her and then she decided she needed to see it more clearly, so she swiveled her hips and shifted her weight, and then all of a sudden BOOM, tummy time. It was magnificent to see.

She’s starting to be very curious about the world around her, and where ever we put her she’s looking intently and everything she’s never seen before. Words? What are these things, black and white all over the place. Can I play with them? They don’t taste like anything I’ve had before … hmmmmmm.

AND!!! Jessica was dedicated on May 8 (Mothers Day) - This photo is of the fam the morning of. The best out of about 8 we tried to take ourselves. We need to get on the family portrait train here pretty soon.

4 down, 2 to go.

So this is the thing. I’m not allowed to be a homemaker anymore. Not only can I not operate any of the heavy machinery that comes along with the job such as; The dryer, the oven, the dishwasher, AND NOW THE WASH MACHINE. But I’m a hazard to our insurance.

Now, a disclaimer on my part, this wasn’t MY fault. But it’s amazing that it would happen to ME seeing as how I’m on a streak of good luck with the appliances.

About the Wash Machine Disaster:

Really isn’t that long of a story, and I’ll get right to the point. Yesterday I turned on the washer around 9:30 AM with an extra large load of towels and rugs. I didn’t think about it again until my mom came over and we were going to run some errands. Before the errands were run we needed to check something in the basement … so la-ti-dah, we’re heading down stairs and my floors look so shiny!! Wow, I haven’t cleaned them in a while but, man! They look good. We get closer … closer … oh wait, that’s not CLEAN it’s an half an inch of WATER IN MY ENTIRE BASEMENT.

My thought process at this point: Okie dokie, here we go.

I think the underlying problem in all of my appliance problems is the fact that we bought then at ABC WAREHOUSE - which would be better named ABC WHOREHOUSE OF MONEY GRUBBING, SLIMY WHITE TRASH WORKING ON COMMISSION TO RAPE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. Needless to say, we had a VERY bad experience and will be paying the extra money upfront to a reputable appliance sales store, such as Northgate, next time.

So anyway, good thing we have homeowners insurance and right now we have some awesome people cleaning out the basement with all these fun vacuums and fans. We might have to have our furnace, flooring and some baseboards replaced but it’ll be a few days before we know what the total damage is.

I think I need a raise.
